If you’re like many Americans living paycheck to paycheck, you know what it’s like when an unexpected expense comes your way. Car trouble, the IRS, a hot date. Let’s face it, sometimes we are forced to save money. Here are some things you can do for free while rationing your cash.

binge watch

Binge watch a TV Show -

Nothing makes the days and nights melt away like binge watching TV shows. Ask some friends for suggestions if you don’t know where to start. If you are still struggling to find something to watch, maybe try prepping for a new season by rewatching the old ones. It’s never a bad thing to brush up on your Game of Thrones knowledge. You can also check out your local library for shows you can’t find online or on the streaming services you have at your disposal.

Learn something new -

Between the library and internet you can learn just about anything. Learn a new skill and apply for a new job or ask for a promotion. Maybe learn a new language and plan a trip.  Books on CD are a great way to learn something while commuting.

Exercise

You should be doing it anyway. There are plenty of workouts to do that cost nothing. Running, cycling, push ups and planks. YouTube also has plenty of workout videos you can watch. Learn a few new exercises and piece together your favorite ones to form your perfect in-home workout.

Create something / hobby

Writing, drawing, building websites, etc… Take up a new hobby or find a way to turn your current hobbies into income.

Play an old video game.

Hook up that PS2 and play that old version of Grand Theft Auto. They are classics for a reason.  Interject some of these tips into your daily routine and save up some money to buy Nintendo’s miniature NES with 30 built in games.

Go to the library or borrow one from a friend.
